Prof. Ganiyu O. Arinola – Plenary
Ganiyu Olatunbosun ARINOLA is a Professor in the Department of Immunology, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He is also a Specialist Adviser to University College Hospital, Ibadan. Prof Arinola is an Immunologist whose interest is on immune responses during communicable- and non-communicable diseases. Prof Arinola has also related nutritional status, occupational exposure and social life with immune responses. He is an active researcher having the following on-going researches with his collaborators:
- Immunodynamism in COVID-19 Nigerian patients.
- Impact of household air pollution (HAP) in-utero through early childhood on child neurocognitive development from infancy to 8 years (HAPCOG Study).
- DNA methylation status, microbiome types and serum inflammatory mediators in patients with breast cancer; and Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma.
- Asthma: Consortium on Genetic Study of Asthma among African-ancestry Populations in the Americans.
- Genetic polymorphisms of immune factors responsible for susceptibility/resistant to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection.
Prof Arinola has trained and still training students within and outside Nigeria at undergraduate and postgraduate (M.Sc, M.Phil, Ph.D and M.D) levels. He was and still Principal Investigator or co-Investigator on several University-, EU- and NIH-funded grants which produced peer-reviewed publications and formulate policies.
